My sixth grade use for Arizona Star,
newspaper daily tossed on driveway was
as comic Wheaties placemat. There, Bizzar-
o, Fox Trot, Pearls Before Swine, and Get Fuzz-
y welcomed, as Non Sequitur(s), the day.
It wasn't treasured trove of local news.
In Tucson, little "broke." We're no Beltway.
My adult use for New York Times: peruse
the goings-on that twist shape of my world.
I'm subject to our rulers. Once, I'd learned
of governance, debates! Now, insults hurled
and lies are daily into headlines burned.
It's not their fault, it's every paper peer,
reducing guide to placemat 'gain. For beer.
