What Didn't Happen This Week

This week two asteroids avoided Earth,

though narrowly by spacey standards, as

they passed with fraction of our lunar berth,

like cutting through the parking spot moon has.

This week no nuclear explosions boomed

near surface, atmosphere, or ocean floor,

such fusion stayed confined to gas consumed

by sun, fueled biolocomotion's war.

This week no magma-laden holy mount

disgorged its hellfire contents skyward, nor

did budge tectonic plates 'pon which we count.

to float civilization evermore.

As foil to strife man stirs up on repeat,

destruction on galactic scale's complete.
